I wanted to share a glimpse of what you might see when you join me on the studio tour. I have been working on a whole new series of Giant Sequoia paintings, part of my Giant Sequoia Series, in preparation for a traveling show “All about our Giants”. These paintings are in various degrees of done and un-done. I wanted to share the whole process with you. Many of the pieces you will see are brand new and have never been seen before. I hope you will join me.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, March 20, 21 and 22, fans of the arts who are moving from studio to studio on the South Valley Tour will find a different “look” in Lindsay: Two Studios will be open; Ginny Wilson’s Blue Ridge Photography, and now a second: The studio of Merary Lopez at Healthy Start, an organization that provides services to the families of Lindsay students. Tour Booklets (tickets, $15) and maps are available at Healthy Start, 400 E. Hermosa St..
Merary, born and raised in Mexico, graduated from Universidad de Montemorelos with a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts in 1992. An artist in her own right, she also teaches art classes and Art History for children and young adults at Healthy Start in Lindsay. Her own paintings as well as teaching demonstrations and the work of her students will be on display at the studio.
Tickets (booklets) are also available at Ginny Wilson’s Photography Studio/Gallery, 1864 E. Lindmore. Ginny’s is an outdoor gallery and studio “with a view” as one looks east toward the Sierras from their hilltop home. Her photographs include scenes in nature, and images from the U.S. and Europe. All illustrate her love of shape, contrast, and color
Other nearby studios include Eric Gonzales at 201 Portola Ave., Exeter as well as Linda Hengst and John Sundstrom in Woodlake, Lindsay Dion, Joy Harvey and Ron Zanini in Springville and Joy Collier (Featured Artist!) on Success Valley Dr., Porterville. Joy also has a one-person exhibit at the Porterville Art Association, 151 N. Main St (where booklets with directions to the studios may also be purchased.)
In addition to the two studios in Lindsay, an on-going exhibit by long-time Porterville College Art Teacher, Tom Howell, is still be on the walls at the Museum/Gallery, 165 N. Gale Hill (down the street and around the corner from Healthy Start ). The Museum/Gallery will be open on the Sunday of the Art Studio Tour. Gallery hours are 12 – 4 pm, Fridays and Sundays. (So if one comes to Lindsay on Friday, or Sunday, Tom’s exhibit may be seen before starting the Friday Tour at 4:00 or on Sunday from 12 Noon until 4:00 pm.)
Monday morning I will be hanging my show at the Porterville Art Association. It will be on display from March 18th through May 9th with an artist reception on April 3rd during the First Friday Art Walk.
One room will be filled with a glimpses into giant Sequoia forests. The second room will contain some of the more colorful moments from our local environment such as; the mustard & fiddle neck in bloom, the mysterious buckeye in different seasons, Porterville’s flower the iris, and more.
Starting next Friday March 20th and ending on Sunday afternoon March 22nd is the “South Valley Artists Studio Tour” and you are all welcome to join me in my funky little studio to see how I create my works of art plus the studios of about 40 artists Tulare County Wide.
Stop by one of our Embassy locations and pick up your passport ( a beautiful full color brochure that highlights each artist ) and a map for only $15 and you can visit all of the studio’s.
